Ethernet/Serial Control Information
JFW now offers our latest generation of 3.x.x firmware for all types of test systems that we manufacture. The 3.x.x firmware has expanded functionality for Ethernet and RS-232 control of our test systems. The older generation of firmware had letter revision designations (i.e. Rev A). The new firmware revisions are listed numerically (i.e. 3.2.1).
The 3.x.x firmware manual lists every remote command with syntax and examples. Each test system model ships with its own users manual which lists the remote commands for that specific model. You can also send the HELP command to the test system and it will respond back with all available remote commands for your specific test system model.
3.x.x Firmware Highlights
- DHCP capable
- Multi-threaded code allows multiple users to operate and not block each other’s access.
- Ethernet properties can be set using a keypad on the front panel.
- RS-232 baud rate can be set using a keypad on the front panel.
- The Ethernet port, RS-232 port, and keypad can all be operated simultaneously.
- Up to 12 simultaneous Ethernet connections to the test system.
- UPD discovery command so that all 3.x.x test systems on your network will identify themselves.
- Remote commands now include option flags for increased functionality.
- New ESCAPE command that can be used to terminate erroneous commands (i.e. PAUSE, FADE)
- Date feature that allows for time tracking with timestamp command option flag.
Updating to 3.x.x Firmware
If you already own a JFW test system that is Ethernet or RS-232 controlled and would like to update it to run the 3.x.x firmware, please send an email that includes your JFW model # to our engineering department. Most JFW test systems can be easily updated.
